Translate by AI
Feature Overview
Hungry Hub is expanding its global reach, offering services in up to 15 languages. To ensure a consistent multilingual experience, we are introducing a Multilingual Content Translation Tool for the Admin Panel. This feature enables admin users to easily translate dynamic content fields across various sections of the website — from restaurant names to package descriptions — with minimal manual effort. It supports granular control (per field or per page), batch operations (all fields or only blank ones), and aims to streamline localization workflows, reduce time-to-market for content updates, and improve international SEO.
Problem Statement
Currently, content input across multiple languages is manual, repetitive, and error-prone. Admins must manually enter translations for every field in 15 different languages, even when the content is identical or only slightly modified. This increases operational overhead and delays content rollout for new restaurant pages and promotions in non-English/Thai markets. Furthermore, inconsistent or incorrect translations risk degrading user experience and brand trust.
Goals and Objectives
- Enable seamless translation of any content field from source language to target languages via a guided interface.
- Minimize manual translation work for administrators by automating blank field population and offering suggestions for already-filled fields.
- Ensure content accuracy by using structured translation prompts that avoid hallucinations or incorrect assumptions.
- Maintain control by allowing admins to select specific fields or groups of fields to translate.
- Improve time efficiency in updating multilingual content across all product pages.
User Stories / Use Cases
User Persona: Content Admin – May
- "As a content admin, I want to automatically translate only blank fields on a restaurant detail page so I don’t have to copy and paste for every language."
User Persona: Localization Manager – Natt
- "As a localization manager, I want to review and translate specific fields, like the ‘Short Name’ and ‘Description,’ into Japanese and Korean, to ensure accurate branding."
Use Case Scenarios:
- Admin visits a restaurant’s edit page and selects “Translate All” to populate all fields in Vietnamese.
- Admin selects “Blank Fields Only” to translate only the missing French content for banners and descriptions.
- Admin selects “Specific Fields” (e.g., “Short Name”, “Food Details”) and provides a source language (English) and a target language (Korean) for translation.
- Admin reviews the generated translation before saving it to the database.
Feature Scope
Must-have:
- Ability to select fields to translate:
- All fields
- Only blank fields
- Specific fields
- Dropdown selectors for:
- Source language (default: English)
- Target language (from the 15 supported)
- Translation prompt based on structured template
- Display preview before applying translation
- Field checkbox UI with nested logic:
- If all specific fields are selected, auto-check "All" and "Blank Field"
- Per-page translation support (e.g., Restaurant Edit Page, Package Page)
Should-have:
- Field highlighting to indicate filled vs blank status
- Batch translation of multiple entities (e.g., multiple restaurants in a list view)
- Audit log or history of translations performed
Nice-to-have:
- Side-by-side preview of source and translated text
- Inline edit and revert for translations
- Translation confidence score or indicator
Design Considerations
- Maintain a clean and intuitive UI using Hungry Hub’s existing admin design language.
- Use checkboxes or toggles for selecting fields to translate.
- Use modals or side panels for translation previews.
- Display loading indicators while translating.
- For multilingual images (e.g., banner), validate language-specific uploads based on locale.
- Avoid overwhelming the user: show contextual tips near translation controls.
- Respect RTL (Right-to-Left) languages in the display area (e.g., Arabic, Hebrew).
KPIs and Success Criteria
- ✅ 80% reduction in average time spent inputting multilingual content (compared to baseline)
