The HungryHub recommendation service exposes a strategy field for each homepage section so clients and operators can understand how recommendations were selected.
How Recommendations Are Generated

cohort_popularity | Popular restaurants for users in a similar cohort |
search_intent | Restaurants matching the current search query |
fallback_global | Generally popular restaurants used when no stronger signal is available |
Main Parameters
The main parameters determining recommendations include:
- User Preferences: Cuisine preferences, price range, and past bookings
- Session Activity: Recently viewed restaurants in the current session
- Location: Geographic relevance to the user’s location
- Availability: Restaurant availability for booking
- Popularity: Overall popularity with similar users
User Controls
Users can influence their recommendations by:
- Updating cuisine preferences in their profile
- Adjusting price range settings
- Viewing different restaurant categories
- Using search functionality for specific needs
