How to use WireGuard VPN

Prerequisites & Access

  1. Send message to #team-platform channel on slack and mentions @devops-team
  2. DevOps will provide your personal configuration file (<username>.conf).
  3. Accessing the network only requires the official WireGuard Client App

This guide walks you through requesting access, installing the WireGuard client, importing your configuration profile, and verifying secure connectivity to internal infrastructure.

Step 1: Request VPN Credentials

  1. Send message to #team-platform channel on slack and mentions @devops-team
  2. DevOps will securely share your individual .conf file (e.g., username.conf) via Slack.

⚠️ Security Notice: Never commit .conf files to Git repositories, upload them to public storage, or send them to other people. They contain your private connection key.

Step 2: Install the WireGuard Client

  • Windows & macOS:
    1. Download the installer from the official page: wireguard.com/install.
    2. Run the installer and complete the setup wizard.
  • Ubuntu / Debian Linux:
    1. Install
    $ sudo apt install wireguard

Step 3: Import Profile and Connect

Windows & macOS (GUI)

  1. Launch the WireGuard application.
  2. Click Add Tunnel (or press Ctrl+N / Cmd+N) and select your username.conf file.
  3. Click Activate to establish the connection.

Ubuntu / Debian Linux

  1. Open Network → VPN →Add VPN
  2. Import your username.conf file
